Agnorant

This week, Shaunna and Lisa *had* to talk about Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show and its cultural importance. They also discuss why U.S. Americans seem to be less interested in global affairs and the potential consequences of this disinterest, and they wrap with a discussion of the brilliant Netflix movie Six Triple Eight.

Word of the Week: "Agnorant": Didn't you know that doctors make up words and coin them? Dr. Lisa and Dr. Shaunna are only partially kidding when they define this mash up and apply it to current events.

Phase 1: Kendrick's Critical Thinking: Usually when this podcast mentions "Kendrick," we're referring to Dr. Shaunna's youngest child. But this time, Dr. Shaunna explores Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime performance, and the general resistance to critical thinking in the U.S. How our lack of critical thinking continues to cater to the white gaze has both doctors perplexed.

Phase 2:  Global Disconnect: Taking the lack of critical thinking to a different place, Dr. Lisa wonders (through a U.K.-born lens) why U.S. Americans are less connected to, and concerned about the effects of international events on the U.S.

Phase 3: Six Triple Eight: Both doctors had such mixed feelings after watching Tyler Perry's latest biopic on Netflix. This shadowed corner of U.S. American and military history finally comes to light and we're glad about it.
