No Crown Necessary

In this week's podcast, Dr. Lisa and Dr. Shaunna discuss President Biden’s decision to step aside after one term and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.

Word of the Week: Coronation: Yes, there is a difference between coronation, inauguration, and tapping person who has already received primary votes.

Phase 1: The Call to Step Aside: Prior to the July 21st announcement, clarion voices -- including politicians and celebrities - respectfully (and disrespectfully) made it clear that President Biden should step down / aside to give the Democratic Party a better chance of a win against 45. Dr. Lisa leads a discussion about this recent development.

Phase 2: Demographic Implications for Kamala: Vice President Harris is a biracial woman (born to Jamaican and Indian immigrants), graduate of an HBCU, and member of a Divine 9, Greek-lettered organization. Given this, it's no surprise that Kamala's campaign drew 44,000 Black women to a Zoom call that raised $1.5M in just three hours. This was just the first of a string of demographic gatherings in support of Harris.

Phase 3: Project 2025 Implications: No one has time to read all 922-pages of the Heritage Foundation's document "The Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise.” Yet, Dr. Shaunna implores our listeners to pick a topic from the document and get very familiar with how you plan to combat it. Plans outlined in the report are already in process, so we have to be educated and ready.
